I began my job as 2nd and 3rd Grade Counselor at De Queen Elementary and De Queen Primary School in August 2017.
I began my teaching career in Special Education at Centerpoint Elementary School in Glenwood, Arkansas. i then became the K-8th Grade Counselor at Centerpoint. I taught Special Education at Peake Elementary and Goza Middle School for two years and then went to Ouachita Baptist University and worked for TRIO Programs in Educational Talent Search. Then I was counselor at Lake Hamilton Primary School. We moved to Monroe, Louisiana where I was counselor at a Private School. When my husband and I returned to Glenwood, I went to work teaching Special Education for Kirby School District. Then I found my current job as counselor at De Queen.
I love working with students and enjoy watching them grow academically as well as socially.
I am happily married to Erby Burgess. We have been married for 35 years. I have two children. Chris Burgess and his wife Emily and Sarah Beth Pianalto and her husband Justin. Chris and Emily have two girls and Sarah and Justin have a little boy.
I love spending time with my family. I love to kayak, canoe and camp. I also love to travel.
