Terriann Phillips has been with De Queen School District since 1993 when she began her career as a second grade teacher. Mrs. Phillips was awarded the Elementary School Teacher of the Year for Arkansas for 1997-1998 by the Oklahoma-Arkansas Section of the Mathematical Association of America. In 1998 she was awarded the State Award for the National Science Foundation Presidental Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. After six years in the classroom, Terriann moved into administration and served one year as an assistant principal before taking over as the principal for De Queen Elementary School in 2000. In 2009, she was named Administrator of the Year by J P Associates and in 2012, she was named Outstanding Administrator of the Year by the Arkansas Art Educator’s Association.
Terriann attended public schools in Grand Prairie, Texas and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1970. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University at Texarkana in 1993 and her Master of Science degree from Texas A & M – Texarkana in 1997. Additionally, she studied at Henderson State University and the University of Central Arkansas to complete the requirements for her administrator credentials.
